JUBILEE PROJECT & PARTNERS

Join our 2012 Queen's Jubilee Celebrations

Our project for a Carnival of 60 GiANT QUEENS to celebrate Elizabeth's Jubilee won Lottery part funding thanks to your votes.  Now the race is on and well underway with 44 already allocated! We have been inviting participation from interested community groups - you may have seen the invites below. If you would like an application pack containing the project details and requirements, some more information, or perhaps a visit to explain and enthuse, then just send us your name and email address to: info@thegiants.org.uk.

We look forward to hearing from you - but soon.
Interest is strong and places are going fast.

PROJECT LAUNCH EVENTS

Through November 2011 we launched the project via the Press, Local Radio and at main events at the GiANTS HQ. More will follow.

Over 100 visitors were welcomed at The GiANTS HQ on Sealand Road, Chester, by David Pickering (Chairman). This combined house warming and GiANT Community Queen's Jubilee presentation was a huge success. Local sculptor Nick Elphick gave a brilliant insight into how he went about creating the fantastic GiANT Queen Elizabeth II head with nine year old Mia, who runs her own Finger Knitting Business adding inspiration on how to decorate the Queen. Music was provided by an excellent group of young local musicians, The Thespians, with The GiANTS adding a certain sartorial elegance to the whole occasion.
If you missed out on this event simply arrange a visit to see this and many other GiANTS by calling 07427 687944.

And Introducing - The GiANT Queen (imagine 60 of them!)

An important aspect of the GiANT JUBILEE Project is the involvement of local businesses to assist the Community Groups setup and run as Social Enterprises. To increase awareness we invited key Business people and Cheshire stakeholders to a presentation of the GiANT Queen and project. We thank all involved, including guests, for helping to make this such a successful event.

2 Queens Visit Sunny New Brighton

HUNDREDS of people lined New Brighton’s promenade and outside the Floral Pavilion theatre to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as they visited on December 1st.  Also there was our 1st GiANT Queen which was seen by Queen Elizabeth and was very popular, with groups of people queueing to have photos taken with her all day.

For Lead Organisations, Groups & Artists As you can see above and elsewhere we have already built a 'Winter Queen' as the first of many others to be made by the JUBILEE GiANTS participants. To help them create the best GiANT Queens possible we are running a series of WORKSHOPS (opposite) from now through to April. Held at The GiANTS HQ Chester, Crewe & Warrington they are run by our experts and will provide inspiration, detailed guidance and hands on experience for all skill levels. If you are registered you should already have received a booking form via email.  If not, or for any other information please contact pam@thegiants.org.uk .
